So I have to admit, this was a little easier than most of the DIY projects I have undertaken lately. But since there was a screwdriver, a hammer and some sweat involved, I think it still falls into some kind of DIY category.
I ordered the cube shelves off of Amazon, but they have lots of different sizes and styles at Ikea if you are looking for something a little different. It came with a set of handy instructions, and I got to work putting it together.
It didn't take very long and it was pretty easy to do, I didn't even have to ask hubby to get involved (I know we are breaking new ground here).
I also ordered the little pink chevron storage boxes off of Amazon. Again, they have so many different colors and styles to choose from. I actually have these little organizer boxes all over the house to help me keep everything sorted.
I packed a different set of toys in each box (blocks, cars, play food, etc.). What I love about this storage solution is that its so easy for our little girl to pull out the set of toys she wants to play with on her own (hello mom freedom). And when we are all done playing, i just throw it back in the box and voila, nice and clean!!
Can I also just take a moment to give a shout out to my mamma for those awesome colored safari paintings hanging above the storage cubes. She drew and hand painted them! Oh yeah!!
It is one of our little babas favorite things in her room. She wakes up every morning and we have a little safari party (what does the lion say.. ROAR!!)
I also have to give a little shoutout to MakersMagic. Can you see that little crochet piggy on the top right shelf, she hand made that. She does custom orders and comes up with the most beautiful little projects, so check out the MakersMagic Facebook page to get in touch with her (and to see much better pictures of all of her little projects).
I love a great little DIY project. There is nothing better than putting your personal touch on the décor around your home, making it a unique and true reflection of what you want.
